ECLOUD simulates the build up of an electron cloud during the passage of one or several positron or proton bunch trains, the resulting electron flux and heat load on the chamber wall, and the multibunch wake field.
Macro-electrons change their charge when they hit the wall; arbitrary 3-D static magnetic fields can be modelled; electron space charge is only 2D; propagating rf fields desynchronize with the beam.
Accelerators for which this code was/is used :
LHC, PEP-II, KEKB, SPS, PS, RHIC, CLIC, TESLA, LHC upgrade, ILC, ISIS, PSR and ESS
Benchmarking against other codes :
POSINST for LHC dipoles and ILC damping ring dipoles, drifts & wigglers; PEI for KEKB
Benchmarking against accelerator experiments :
SPS, PS, KEKB, ISIS
Special programming features :
Uses some NAGLIB routines for modeling certain non-standard wiggler or rf fields.
Comments :
Numerous benchmarkings were performed by G. Bellodi (presentations at ECLOUD04, EPAC'04, and HHH-2004), D. Schulte (PAC'05) and others.
